Nakake Residence

The Nakake Residence is a residence in the Yamato region that remains on the north bank of the Yamato River, surrounded by a double moat. It is a yakata (house) castle that has both a samurai style and a farmhouse style, incorporating the Hirajiro style.

In the circular-most Yamato mansion around which runs a double moat, you can get a clear picture of the Hirajiro-style residence of a medieval samurai. In the large grounds, there many relics that give asense of life in those times, including the main building in the Yamato-mune style, the front gate, a new parlor, a jibutsudo(personal Buddhist shrine), apriest's quarters, an unusual teardrop-shaped furnace, and a steam bath.
